Don Carlos: "De quels transports poignants et doux"

Powerful themes and explosive choreography lie at the heart of Brown's trilogy on race, culture and identity comprised of Mr. TOL E. RAncE (2012), BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play (2015) and ink (2018). The evening's program features highlights from the three mesmerizing works which use modern, hip hop, African, ballet and tap dance styles to tell stories that connect history with contemporary culture.

Last year Camille Brown made history as the first Black director of a Metropolitan Opera mainstage production, choreographing and co-directing Fire Shut Up in My Bones. She is also the first Black woman in almost 65 years to direct and choreograph a Broadway show, the seven-time Tony-nominated with for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf.

Generously supported by the Carolyn R. Kohn 1976 Dance Artist-in-Residence Fund, the Class of 1961 Legacy: The American Tradition in Performance Fund, the Melville 1960 and Leila Straus Fund and Amy and Henry Nachman '51 Tu'55.
