Sunjammer 6: A Tale Blown by a Solar Breeze
Sunjammer 6: A Tale Blown by a Solar Breeze
Fall into a poetic, cosmic experience with this interactive journey through time, guided by the ghost of a Hellenistic astronomer.
A luminary and innovator in interactive stories, Dove is known for genre-mashing works that employ responsive technologies to create visceral narrative experiences and explore the implications of technological change. Her latest work braids together choreography, a dreamlike movie and a responsive machine that adapts to viewer or performer input.

Toni Dove is an instrument builder. She creates human-operated machines that tell stories. An early innovator in interactive narrative, she is known for genre mashing stories that employ interactivity as metaphor to create visceral experiences and examine the implications of technological change. Her disruptive practice, developed over years, has created media machines that blur the boundaries between performance and installation and fuse film, game, experimental theater and artificial intelligence-based interaction. Her work has been presented in the US, Europe and Canada, including the Banff Center for the Arts, The Rotterdam Film festival, The Wexner Center, Redcat, The Kitchen, and ZKM. Dove received the Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts from M.I.T. and a lifetime achievement award from I.D.M.A.a. The Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida presented a retrospective of Dove's interactive work "Embodied Machines" in 2018. Dove's current project "Sunjammer 6: A Tale Blown by a Solar Breeze" is supported by NYSCA, NEA, Duke PATL, Residencies at Bell Labs E.A.T., Pioneer Works, and previewed Jan. 2026, The Schwarzman Center for the Arts at Yale. It will go to the McNay Museum of Contemporary Art, San Antonio, 2026/27. An augmented reality book on the project published by Scala will be released Fall 2026. Dove is a fellow at C.C.A.M., Yale University and Artist in Residence 2026-2027 at The Yale Quantum Institute.
