A genre-defying ensemble that reimagines the classical music experience.

Hailed by The New York Times as "invariably energetic and finely burnished," Catalyst Quartet is comprised of top laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition. The Quartet shares excerpts from their "Uncovered" program which features overlooked artists in classical music, including Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, William Grant Still and George Walker. With a passion for communicating deep ideas through their music, Catalyst investigates and honors the forgotten history and roots of classical music.

About Catalyst Quartet

Known for their "rhythmic energy, polyphonic clarity and tight ensemble-playing," Catalyst Quartet includes musicians Karla Donehew-Perez (violin), Jessie Montgomery (violin), Paul Laraia, (viola) and Karlos Rodriguez (cello). The ensemble has toured throughout the US and abroad, including sold-out performances at the Kennedy Center, Harris Theater, New World Center and Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall.
