The Hop Experiential Learning Fund provides support for classes to attend one live performance AND one film each term! Every quarter Hop Film presents a mix of acclaimed arthouse, foreign language and documentary titles, as well as films with live guests.
Films ripe for course connections include a documentary about librarians fighting the LGBTQIA+ book bans (The Librarians), a magical-realism coming-of-age story (Bird), a Moldovan political thriller that helped oust a real-life oligarch (Stampila, with actor Tommy Dickie '05 in person) and an Exhibition on Screen program connected to the Hood Museum's Monet exhibit (Dawn of Impressionism: Paris, 1874). There are also two free film screenings this term: a documentary about the wrongfully accused civil rights attorney Stephen Bingham and his quest to clear his name (A Double Life), and a documentary about a pivotal moment in George H.W. Bush's presidency that changed US climate politics (The White House Effect).
