Create art for Day of the Dead to add to our shrine and experience live mariachi music!
HopStopsDay of the Dead is a holiday celebrated by many people of Mexican heritage. People make shrines to honor the deceased relatives featuring the person's favorite food and drink, and gifts. This holiday is a joyful celebration which pays respect and honors deceased relatives.
Mirna P. Lopez Acosta '27 and Javier E. Lopez Jr. '27, who are members of the Dartmouth Mexican Student Association (MexSA), will guide participants to create tissue paper flowers as ofrenda or offerings for our shrine. Ofrenda commemorate and celebrate the lives of deceased relatives.
Another member of MexSA, Cesar Almeida Jr. '27, will help us celebrate the holiday with a traditional mariachi performance. Learn to clap, stomp, sing and dance to traditional Mexican mariachi music.
All are welcome to this free family celebration.
