Isidore String Quartet
Isidore String Quartet
Youthful strings resound in the exquisite recital hall, with classical music from Haydn to today.
Just three years after its founding at Juilliard, the Isidore String Quartet won the prestigious 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition—and continues to make waves in the world of chamber music.
They perform two classical programs from Haydn's Quartet Op. 20 and Mendelssohn's Quartet Op. 80 to Mozart's Quartet in D, alongside Billy Childs' String Quartet No. 4 "American Mosaic", which was written for the quartet, and which explores US history, race relations and multiculturalism, with a poignant musical message of hope. Then they share the stage with Childs in an exhilarating evening.

Formed at the Juilliard School, the New York City-based Isidore String Quartet began with a vision to revisit, rediscover, and reinvigorate the repertoire. The winner of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition, the group is heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the philosophy of "approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established."
Over the past several concert seasons, the Isidore Quartet has performed at major series in both North America and Europe. In early 2026, they made their debuts at the Paris Philharmonie and London's Wigmore Hall. The ensemble's first recording, "Adorations," was released on the Delos label in March 2026, reaching #3 on the Apple Classical music chart.
The quartet has developed a strong connection to the works of composer and pianist Billy Childs, performing his Quartets No. 2 and 3 throughout North America and Europe. In early 2026 they premiered a fourth quartet by Childs, "American Mosaic," written expressly for them. Upcoming collaborations include performances with pianist Jeremy Denk, cellist Sterling Elliott, and clarinetist Anthony McGill.
“one of the finest young chamber groups on today’s music scene.”
